Merrell Men’s Striker Goal Fashion Trainer Review

With my everyday activities, including outdoor escapades, I’m often contented with one pair of comfy shoes. Men do have a sense of fashion but we’re just like women who can’t live without at least 5 pairs of footwear (I’m talking about my lovely wife here). But when it comes to my sport, soccer, the drill turns 360 degrees. I don’t own 5 pairs of soccer shoes, but I always see to it that I have one immediate standby just in case my current shoes go kooky.

Since I’m about to set out on the battlefield, I needed to speed up on searching for a great pair – something better than the last one I had why lasted only 5 soccer games. I was window shopping when I saw Merrell Striker Goal Fashion Trainer and in just a snap, I had them wrapped in a paper bag with the receipt. Yes, I did found enough reasons to purchase a pair.

Only the best material

When you say soccer, you say smooth fields and rough game. Although rugby and football looks rougher, my sport also has its own share of coarseness. On that note, I need a pair of shoes that can sustain this form of usage. I was amazed the moment I picked Merrell Striker Goal Fashion Trainer from the shoe display rack. It felt so resilient yet rigid; looked so tough yet discreet. These four-way stretch shoes are equipped with neoprene backs. It is made with top-grain leather that is used for the upper material, giving that soft, plum feel. Its upper lining is made with Aerodynamic Slipstream Fin that helps you maintain your grip regardless of how tough the game gets. The outer material is composed of high quality leather and the sole is made of Merrell Sprint Sole/Trek Rubber. With those combinations of shoe materials, you will have no regrets if you’ll opt for this as it also provides a likable taste of fashion.

Inside feel

If Merrell Striker Goal Fashion Trainer is made up of the best raw goods, you can expect it to have an impeccable feel as well. Indeed, this expectation is met. A 4.5mm Ortholite Anatomical foot bed is carefully placed on the inside of the shoes for a high level of comfort. It’s also treated with Aegis antimicrobial solution, which is of great help in dealing with sweaty and smelly feet. Since we’re talking of soccer shoes here, of course, you’ll always end up with sweaty feet and Aegis will attend to that. Every pair is also crafted with in-board compression that is molded with EVA foot frame and an air cushion midsole, responsible for giving that snug-tight comfort.

More to offer

Highlighting the small-time features is something I would never want to skip simply because Merrell made them amazingly efficient. Not all lace-up systems are effective but with Merrell Striker Goal Fashion Trainer‘s net gain lacing and single elastic cord, you will have the total opposite impression. Such system is also fastened with cord lock friction fastener.

Where it can be improved

On the flipside, I just wish Merrell created a better ventilation system for this pair. Although it’s a bit airy, I still think there’s something better. If you suffer from sweaty feet, the odor is attended by the antibacterial treatment on the foot bed of the shoes but the ventilation is a different story. Other than that, I think Merrell Striker Goal Fashion Trainer is a good purchase.

Whether that’s soccer, an outdoor escapade or even an ordinary daily activity, Merrell Striker Goal Fashion Trainer will surely meet your needs as it did on mine. For a price of £70-£80, I think this is one great deal and I’m lucky I didn’t miss it.
