One of the newest additions to the Berghaus family of jackets and coats is the Smoulder Hoody Jacket. I’ve been purchasing Berghaus jackets for years and love every single one like it’s one of my own children. It’s a great year-round jacket for your active layering, or it can simply be worn by itself. I took it with me on my recent adventures in the Arctic Circle and Norway and loved wearing it every day. It’s light weight and works great as an active layer under a heavier jacket or as the main jacket on a warmer winter day. It’s not bulky, so packing it is easy, and it’s easy to move around in if you’re active and hiking or climbing somewhere cold.

What’s great about the Berghaus Smoulder Hoody Jacket?
It has two weights of POLARTEC POWERDRY, a Berghuas innovation, to keep you dry. The layers work with your body’s natural system for heat regulation plus have stretch panels for comfort when you’re actively climbing or hiking. The hood fits snug and works great under a helmet if you need one. It doesn’t feel bulky, but it kept me warm and dry when I needed it.
There are so many wonderful little things about this jacket that make it the most comfortable jacket I’ve ever owned. The zipper is offset at the collar, so it doesn’t rub against my face when it’s zipped up, and it has concealed thumb loops. Berghaus has thought of everything plus the kitchen sink for comfort on this jacket. It even has seamless underarms for added comfort when you’re climbing and is just the perfect lightweight winter base jacket for so many things.
The technical aspects of this jacket are great. It might just look like another hoody, but take a look at all of these great features that you don’t usually find in a standard department store hoody:
- 360g weight that’s light enough to wear just about anywhere but warm enough to keep you warm on cold days.
- Snug fitting hood that goes under a helmet easily when you needed.
- Hidden thumb loops for extra comfort when you’re climbing.
- Offset zipper at the collar for added comfort that won’t rub on your face when you’re actively hiking or climbing.
- Seamless underarms for comfort during long climbs.
- Highly innovative insulation system to keep you warm and dry at all times.
Berghaus is a Trusted Brand
You will never go wrong purchasing a Berghaus jacket. I’ve owned a few over the years, and I’m a lifetime fan. They come with an impressive warranty from a company that’s trusted in the industry for over 40 years. Berghaus is always creating innovative designs with comfort, warmth, and dryness in mind. The elements can be brutal and Berghaus tests everything in the live weather to make improvements.
If you’re environmentally conscious, Berghaus is also a great brand to support. The company practices sustainability in all areas and is always making new improvements that are environmentally friendly. It’s easy to get behind a brand that appreciates the world we live in and wants to make it a better place.
Berghaus is probably the UKs favorite outdoor brand, and for good reason. It makes quality fleeces and great waterproof solutions for the active winter customer. Designs are sporty, but not boring and come in a variety of colors and patterns. It’s nice to have a quality option in something that’s a bold color to make a statement about your personality. I hate having a black jacket like everyone else on the mountain. It’s great to have some fun color options when I buy something from Berghaus.
How would I improve the Berghaus Smoulder Hoody Jacket?
I have a tough time saying anything negative about the Berghaus Smoulder Hoody Jacket because I love wearing it. It’s perfect for what it’s designed to do. Get yours here.
